Kata and Kata Noi
Kata Beach is busy but never Patong-busy, with sunbeds, food and surf hire. From roughly May to October the surf arrives and board hire and lessons appear along the sand. A red flag means stay out.
Kata Noi, over the headland, is reached by one road, which is why it stays calmer. Clear water, a short arc of sand and a handful of resorts. Food is limited, so bring what you need.

Where to eat
Kata Walking Street Night Market runs every day from about 11am to 11pm, mostly under cover. It is a tourist market and priced like one, but it is open when the others are not.
Hünkâr Turkish Restaurant at Palm Square has Turkish grills and pide. Halal is in its trading name but is the venue’s own claim, not a certificate, so ask at the door.
